This album was a random find on Ebay, and pretty much all I know about the band is they were from the San Diego punk scene and they played a show with Henry Rollins once. Even their old website on the Wayback Machine doesn't shed a whole lot of light. The seller labeled the album as "emocore indie rock," and that's actually a fair assessment. There's a little bit of everything packed into the six songs, from early-90s inspired emo and emocore to screamo to heavy-chord emo pop that wouldn't sound out of place on a Hot Rod Circuit album. Assuming this was their first release, it sounds like a band experimenting with all their influences at once. I've been unable to find any hint that this 2002 EP was followed by others.
The guitarist from Maudlin was also in the San Diego band Spare Change. I saw both these bands a number of times live. Maudlin was very short lived but fun.
ReplyDeleteGood to know! I wasn't able to find out much of anything about this band so that's really interesting.
