A Quiet Evening

Japanese emo is frustrating—not because it isn't great, but because it is. Japanese bands (Weave are a good example) often play emo that is closer to the 90s breed than what we usually get from the Western emo revival. The problem is that Japan is one of the few places where CDs seem to be the dominant format; good luck finding a lot of Japanese artists, especially obscure ones, on any online platform. Even the labels that are starting to change, like Further Platonix, have huge gaps in what's available. And just to rub it in, they have no problem charging twenty bucks for a seven song CD in Japan, and you'll have to pay thirty bucks to import it.

This steep barrier to entry for the Japan emo scene (if you live outside of Japan) is deeply unfortunate, because bands like A Quiet Evening are doing emo proud. Aside from an EP and a couple demos, this 2019 LP is A Quiet Evening's only release.
