decembers architects

It's not every day you get a CD that comes with diagrams indicating how to put the packaging back together. Decembers architects' ,apiary ennui and curiosas. The brew shakes is musically and physically as elaborate as its title suggests. The CD and its surroundings mirror the artistic bent of the album, and it's impressive.

Sonically, decembers architects bring pretty much everything emo had to the table. Sometimes they sound like American Football. Sometimes they go full, angular post-hardcore. Sometimes they sound like Everyone Everywhere. Sometimes they scream. There are even electronic flourishes and some turntable scratches. This is emo, but it's super-emo, an energetic combination of all emo's various forms—and plenty of other music forms—up to the early 2000s when this album was released. Somehow, it's not too much, which speaks to the pure artistry behind all of it as much as the packaging does.

If you like what you hear, consider buying the album from Bandcamp.
